Thanks to DJ Useo for asking RIAA to contribute a song to a various-artists collection of funny mashups, the sequel to last year's original "It Is To Laff." Our tune (recorded under an assumed name) "Dead Like Me" features our revenge on that horrible Pussycat Dolls song "Don't Cha," mixed with The Cyrcle/Paul Simon's "Red Rubber Ball," some L.A. Dream Time ("...is in the house"), some goofy version of Blood Sweat & Tear's "Spinning Wheel," the robot from the '50s film "Colossus: The Forbin Project," Raymond Scott's "Powerhouse," and lots and lots of wacky! comedy! samples!
The Pixies vs wacky '60s library music legend Roger Roger “Gags a Go-Go” vs The Specials “Concrete Jungle.” You'll LAFF!fairtilizer.com/track/59470Though I did get this comment: "Blimey - that's really quite scary!"
No new Bag O' Heads tune this year, but Cheekyboy has graciously re-upped all the old various-artist "Monster Mashup" collections, going back to 2004:Monster Mashup pageSome boo-tiful stuff here.
Audio surrealism! Neutral Milk Hotel vs Beastie Boys vs Sean McGaughey reading Lewis Carroll's "Jabberwocky".
Get it here:The Crafty King of Carrowocky.
London UK's legendary sound collage-ist People Like Us often features RIAA recordings in her WFMU radio show "Do or DIY," and this new best-of collection is no exception. "Spinning Rubber Sing Thing" is featured (towards the end).
"Awful Fun"
"It's the end of the Summer Season and so time for DO or DIY to unplug the ethernet cable, give the ol' modem a bit of a dust and take the next season off. But before we go we haven't forgotten that it's somewhat a tradition to make a downloadable collection of the best of all things avant retard for your ears and eye-pods, you lucky people - complete with downloadable artwork. So here it is. I always say there's nothing like art, and this is nothing like art."
